The vehicles listed above and built prior to March 1, 1985, have a D8DZ-11450-B Starter Relay (supplied by Essex). The internal contact design of this
relay is susceptible to sticking, when installed on the subject vehicles with electronic engine controls that have an external diode connection to ground in
the wiring harness. The combination of the Essex contact design with the external diode may cause the relay contacts to eventually stick (during cranking
cycle) and therefore the starter remains engaged with the engine running. This can be corrected by installing a new relay of a different design.

The original D8DZ-11450-B relay should be replaced by an E5TZ-11450-A relay. Refer to Figure 8 for the external physical differences of the
two relays, for easy identification.
