In Section 17-20 of the Car and Light Truck Shop Manuals, the TV adjustment procedure linkage using TV control pressure indicates a TV pressure
specification of 35 +/- 5 psi with the best transmission function occurring when the TV pressure is set at 35 psi. These pressures are specified with the
transmission in NEUTRAL.
It is more desirable to have TV pressure at 35 psi when the transmission is in the forward gear ((D) or D). Also, it has been found that when the shift
selector is moved from neutral to a forward gear, the TV pressure goes up approximately 2 psi.
To compensate for the difference in TV pressure between neutral and forward gear, best transmission function will now be obtained with the TV
pressure set at 33 psi in NEUTRAL instead of 35 psi in NEUTRAL. Therefore, whenever adjusting TV cable or rod systems using control pressure, the
acceptable pressure is still 30 to 40 psi (35 +/- 5 psi), but with best transmission function occurring at 33 psi with shift selector in NEUTRAL.
