Seat Track - Inadequate Headroom

SEAT TRACK - "INADEQUATE HEADROOM" - VEHICLES WITH POLICE FLEET DSO BUCKET SEAT

FORD 1984 CROWN VICTORIA

Dealers encountering concerns of inadequate headroom with DSO bucket seat equipped Crown Victoria Police vehicles can service these vehicles by
using the following procedure.

1.

Remove the driver's seat and track assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Section 41.01 of the 1984 Car Shop Manual.

2.

Verify that the original seat tracks were located in the ("Texas Position") farthest rearward mounting position per TSB 83-17-1. If the seat track
was not mounted in the "Texas Position", continue with TSB 83-17-1, but use new seat track, part number E5AZ-5461704-B, E5AZ-5461705-B.

3.

If the seat tracks were located in the "Texas Position", simply replace existing seat tracks with new seat track No. E5AZ-5461704-B, E5AZ-
5461705-B and also eliminate seat frame to seat track spacers and seat track to floor pan washers, using the instructions in Section 41.01 of the
1984 Shop Manual.
