Crankshaft Gear/Sprocket: Service and Repair
Installation
1.
Position the sprockets and timing chain on the camshaft and crankshaft simultaneously. Be sure the timing marks on the sprockets are positioned
as shown above.
2.
Install the fuel pump eccentric (install the spacer on Central Fuel Injected (CFI) Vehicles, washers and camshaft sprocket cap screw. Tighten the
sprocket cap screw to 40-45 ft lbs (54-61 Nm).
3.
Clean the cylinder front cover, oil pan and the block gasket surfaces.
4.
Install a new oil seal in the cylinder front cover.
5.
Lubricate the timing chain with engine oil.
