Remove the oil level indicator. | | -
Remove the undershield (if equipped). - Remove the clips.
- Remove the bolts.

Disconnect the HEGO sensor. | | -
CAUTION:Over bending of the flexible pipe may cause damage resulting in failure. Support the flexible pipe with a support wrap or suitable splint assembly. | Vehicles built 8/1998 onwards | -
Detach the exhaust pipe from the oil pan. | All Vehicles | -
Remove the front pipe. - Remove the front pipe.
- Detach the insulator.
- Discard the gasket and studs.

Prepare the components. - Clean the manifold flange to remove carbon deposits.
- Clean the manifold studs and install a new gasket.
- Check the rubber insulator for damage or fatigue. Install a new insulator as required.
- When installing a rubber insulator use Lubricant meeting Ford specification.

CAUTION:The rubber insulator is constructed from a special material. Use only the correct specification insulators. Loosely connect the front pipe. | | -
CAUTION:Never use jointing compound forward of the catalytic converter. Connect the front pipe to the manifold. | | -
Install the oil level indicator. | Vehicles built 8/1998 onwards | -
Install the exhaust pipe to oil pan bolt. | All Vehicles | -
Connect and install the HEGO sensor. | | -
Remove the flexible pipe support. | | -
Install the undershield (if equipped). - Install the bolts.
- Install the clips.

Lower the vehicle. - Start the engine and check for leaks or vibration.
