Engine - 3.0L Duratec-SE (VE6)/3.0L Duratec-ST (VE6) - Upper Intake Manifold Mondeo 2001 (10/2000-02/2007)
In-vehicle Repair

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.

  1. Remove the engine upper cover.

  1. Disconnect the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum line.

  1. Detach the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the intake manifold.

  1. Detach the evaporative emission (EVAP) solenoid valve from the retaining bracket.

  1. Detach the PCV hose from the intake manifold.

  1. Detach the air cleaner outlet pipe from the throttle body.

  1. Detach the accelerator cable from the retaining bracket and position it to one side.
    1. Detach the inner cable from the throttle body.
    1. Remove the accelerator cable retaining bracket (two bolts).

  1. Detach the intake manifold left-hand retaining bracket from the intake manifold.

  1. Detach the intake manifold right-hand retaining bracket from the intake manifold.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Loosen the intake manifold retaining bolts in the sequence shown.
    Remove the intake manifold retaining bolts.

  1. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the intake manifold.
  1. Remove the intake manifold.

Installation
  1. Connect the vacuum hoses to the intake manifold.

  1. Install the intake manifold retaining bolts.
    • Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.

  1. Attach the intake manifold right-hand retaining bracket to the intake manifold.

  1. Attach the intake manifold left-hand retaining bracket to the intake manifold.

  1. Attach the accelerator cable to the retaining bracket.
    1. Install the accelerator cable retaining bracket (two bolts).
    1. Attach the inner cable to the throttle body.

  1. Attach the air cleaner outlet pipe to the throttle body.

  1. Attach the positive crankshaft ventilation (PCV) hose to the intake manifold.

  1. Attach the evaporative emission (EVAP) solenoid valve to the retaining bracket.

  1. Attach the PCV hose to the intake manifold.

  1. Connect the brake booster vacuum line.

  1. Connect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.

  1. Connect the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector.

  1. Install the engine upper cover.
  1. Connect the battery. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Initialize the door window motors. For additional information, refer to Section  501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms.
