Removal

  1. Remove the upper intake manifold.
    For additional information, refer to: Upper Intake Manifold (303-01D Engine - 3.0L Duratec-SE (VE6)/3.0L Duratec-ST (VE6), In-vehicle Repair).

  1. Disconnect the right-hand cylinder head spark plug electrical connectors.
    • Detach the cable bracket.

  1. Detach the front wiring harness bracket from the right-hand valve cover.

  1. Detach the wiring rail from the right-hand valve cover.

  1. Detach the positive crankshaft ventilation (PCV) hose from the right-hand valve cover.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Remove the right-hand valve cover retaining bolts in the sequence shown.
    Remove the right-hand valve cover.
    • Discard the gasket.

Installation
  1. Clean the mating faces of the cylinder head and the right-hand valve cover with a clean, lint free cloth.
    • Apply sealant to the mating faces of the cylinder head.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new valve cover gasket.
    Install the right-hand valve cover.
    • Tighten the valve cover retaining bolts in the sequence shown.

  1. Attach the positive crankshaft ventilation (PCV) hose to the right-hand valve cover.

  1. Attach the wiring rail to the right-hand valve cover.

  1. Attach the front wiring harness bracket to the right-hand valve cover.

  1. Connect the right-hand cylinder head spark plug electrical connectors.
    • Attach the cable bracket.
  1. Install the upper intake manifold.
