Starting System - Starter Motor—2.0L Duratorq-Di/TDDi (Puma) Diesel/2.0L Duratorq-TDCi (Puma) Diesel, Vehicles With: 6-Speed Manual Transmission (MMT6)/5-Speed Automatic Transmission (5F31J) Mondeo 2001 (10/2000-02/2007)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the engine undershield.

  1. Remove the splash shield.

  1. Remove the charge air cooler intake pipe.

  1. Disconnect the ignition switch and battery to starter motor solenoid cables.

  1. Remove the wiring harness support bracket retaining nuts and position the support bracket to one side (vehicle shown above for clarity).

  1. Remove the starter motor.
    • Discard the gasket.

Installation

NOTE:
NOTE:Install a new starter motor gasket.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Initialize the door window motors. For additional information, refer to Section  501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms.
