Removal and Installation

Removal
  1. Remove the instrument panel lower panel.
    1. Remove the retaining screws.
    1. Release the retaining clip.

  1. Detach the clutch pedal position switch from the clutch pedal.

  1. Remove the clutch pedal spring retaining bracket.
    • Remove the clutch master cylinder retaining bolts.

  1. Remove the suspension strut and spring assembly top mount brace cover.
    • Release the clips.

  1. Remove the suspension strut and spring assembly top mount brace bracket.
    • Discard the nuts.
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:The brake fluid reservoir cap must not become contaminated.
    Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap.
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
    Using a suitable syringe, remove brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir until the brake fluid level is at the MIN mark.
    • Install the brake fluid reservoir cap.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Cap the clutch master cylinder supply hose to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the clutch master cylinder supply hose from the brake fluid reservoir.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Cap the clutch slave cylinder pressure pipe to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the clutch slave cylinder pressure pipe from the clutch master cylinder.

  1. Remove the clutch pedal with the clutch master cylinder.

  1. Remove the clutch master cylinder.
    • Release the clip.
    • Remove the supply hose.

Installation

NOTE:
NOTE:Install new suspension strut and spring assembly top mount brace bracket retaining nuts.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Bleed the clutch system. For additional information, refer to Section  308-00 Manual Transmission/Transaxle and Clutch - General Information.
