Removal

Vehicles with 5-speed manual transmission (front wheel drive)
  1. Remove the transmission.

  1. Remove the transmission.

All vehicles
  1. Degrease the input shaft splines.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not allow brake fluid to come into contact with the skin or eyes. If brake fluid contacts the skin or eyes, rinse the affected area immediately with water. Failure to observe these instructions can lead to personal injury.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Wrap the input shaft splines with adhesive tape to protect the input shaft oil seal from damage.
    Remove the clutch slave cylinder and release bearing.
    • Detach the boot.
    • Discard the clutch slave cylinder and release bearing.

Installation

All vehicles
  1. Apply sealer to the mating faces of the clutch slave cylinder and the transmission housing.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not allow brake fluid to come into contact with the skin or eyes. If brake fluid contacts the skin or eyes, rinse the affected area immediately with water. Failure to observe these instructions can lead to personal injury.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not lubricate the clutch slave cylinder.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new clutch slave cylinder and release bearing.
    Install the clutch slave cylinder and release bearing.
    • Attach the boot.
  1. Remove the adhesive tape from the input shaft splines.
  1. Thinly coat the input shaft splines with grease.
Vehicles with 5-speed manual transmission (front wheel drive)
  1. Install the transmission.
