Removal and Installation
Materials
Name
Specification
Anti-seize grease
SAM–1C9107-A
Removal
Remove the left-hand exhaust flexible pipe.
For additional information, refer to
Exhaust Flexible Pipe
in this section.
Remove the catalyst monitor sensor.
Disconnect the electrical connector.
Remove the sensor.
Detach the catalytic converter from the support bracket.
Lower the vehicle.
Detach the ignition coil pack from the left-hand valve cover and position it to one side.
Remove the catalytic converter.
Discard the gasket and nuts.
Remove the catalytic converter retaining studs.
Discard the retaining studs.
Installation
CAUTION:
Never use jointing compound forward of the catalytic converter.
NOTE:
Coat the catalytic converter retaining studs with anti-seize grease.
NOTE:
Install a new catalytic converter gasket, retaining studs and nuts.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
