Removal and Installation

Removal

All vehicles
  1. Evacuate the air conditioning (A/C) system.For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.
Vehicles with common rail injection system
  1. Detach the intercooler outlet hose from the exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR valve).
All vehicles
  1. Remove the accessory drive belt.For additional information, refer to Section  303-05 Accessory Drive.

  1. Remove the engine undershield.
Vehicles with common rail injection system
  1. Pull out the connector of the mass air flow (MAF) sensor.

  1. Remove the intercooler outlet hose.
All vehicles
  1. Remove the radiator.For additional information, refer to Section  303-03 Engine Cooling.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the refrigerant lines and the A/C compressor to prevent dirt ingress.
    Detach the refrigerant lines from the A/C compressor.
    • Discard the O-ring seals.
CAUTION:
CAUTION:Support the A/C compressor before removing the retaining bolts and secure it at one side to prevent loading of the wiring harness.
  1. Remove the A/C compressor.

  1. Pull off the connector from the A/C compressor clutch.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new refrigerant line O-ring seals.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Coat the refrigerant line O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil prior to installation.
    Install the components in the reverse order.
