NOTE:For additional information on the operation of the video system and remote control, refer to the Multimedia System Operating Guide.

Video System

The video system is operated by a hand held remote control being pointed at one of the infrared sensors in the bezel below the screens. The audio unit must be switched on to enable the video system to function. The video system can operate up to four sets of headphones simultaneously, on two channels.

Video Display

The video displays are integrated 7 inch thin film transistor (TFT) screens which incorporate an internal backlight to enable the video image to be seen. If the backlight fails, the image will be displayed, but with reduced image quality. The head restraint and screen should not be separated but should be changed as an assembly. Below each screen, in the center of the bezel, there is an infrared sensor which receives the signal from the hand-held remote control. Each screen can be operated independently from the other by aiming the remote control at the relevant screen. Each head restraint/video display is supplied with a slip-over cover.

Video Cassette Player

The video cassette player is a conventional four head stereo player, housed in the left-hand rear quarter trim panel. The video cassette player remains in standby mode when not in use.

Passenger Entertainment Control Panel

The passenger entertainment control panel, mounted in the rear of the floor console, is fitted with auxiliary input sockets, which allow for connection to external games/media consoles or camcorders etc. The control panel is also equipped with two headphone channels which allow two sets of headphones to be fitted to each channel.

Video System Module

The video system functions are controlled by a video system module, housed underneath the floor console. The video system module is a 3-input, 2-output video and audio digital processing module. The module processes all the video and audio signals from the system media devices, processes the infrared commands from the remote control and then routes the video signals to the appropriate screen, while the audio signals are routed through an internal amplifier to the appropriate headphone set. The module allows totally independent control over each of the two screens by detecting the infrared signal strength relayed from the infrared sensor below the screen. It therefore controls the screen which has received the strongest signal. This makes sure that commands are only accepted by the appropriate screen and by only one screen at a time.
