This unit operates via ultrasound which is emitted from a sender unit in the front overhead lamp.

A receiver, which is also integrated into the front overhead lamp, picks up the reflected waves and uses them to generate a characteristic sound image for the passenger compartment.

An alarm is then triggered if this sound image is disturbed by any movement in the passenger compartment.

Thatcham standard

In some countries the vehicle must be equipped with anti-theft protection in accordance with the Thatcham category 1 guidelines.

In addition to the reinforcement plates on the ignition lock mounting, these vehicles are also equipped with protective plates which are riveted to the door locks. They are designed to prevent unauthorised opening of the vehicle.

These vehicles are also equipped with an alarm horn with a battery back-up. This is located on the wiper linkage and can only be replaced as a complete unit.

The alarm horn with battery back-up is equipped with rechargeable batteries, thus making it independent of the vehicle's power supply system.
