Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s)
303-1097
Locking Tool, Variable Camshaft Timing Oil Control Unit

Alignment Plate, Camshaft

Removal

  1. Refer to: Zahnriemen (303-01 Motor - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT (Sigma), Removal and Installation).
  1. Refer to: Ventildeckel (303-01 Motor - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT (Sigma), Removal and Installation).

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Use an open-ended wrench to hold the camshafts by the hexagon to prevent the camshafts from turning.

    CAUTION:Use an open-ended wrench to hold the camshafts by the hexagon to prevent the camshafts from turning.

Installation
  1. Install the Special Tool(s): 303-376B

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Use an open-ended wrench to hold the camshafts by the hexagon to prevent the camshafts from turning.
    The timing marks of the variable valve timing (VVT) units must be at the 12 o'clock position.
    Install the Special Tool(s): 303-1097
    Torque: 25 Nm

  1. Remove the Special Tool(s): 303-1097

  1. Remove the Special Tool(s): 303-376B

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Use an open-ended wrench to hold the camshafts by the hexagon to prevent the camshafts from turning.
    Torque: 75°

  1. Install the Special Tool(s): 303-376B

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The special tool can only be installed if the valve timing is correct.
    If the special tool cannot be installed, repeat the adjustment according to the preceding steps.
    Install the Special Tool(s): 303-1097
  1. Remove the Special Tool(s): 303-1097

  1. Remove the Special Tool(s): 303-376B

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Use an open-ended wrench to hold the camshafts by the hexagon to prevent the camshafts from turning.
    Torque: 16 Nm
  1. Refer to: Ventildeckel (303-01 Motor - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT (Sigma), Removal and Installation).
  1. Refer to: Zahnriemen (303-01 Motor - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT (Sigma), Removal and Installation).
