Removal

NOTE:
NOTE:Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Refer to: Generator - 2.3L Duratec-HE (MI4) (414-02 Generator und Regler, Removal and Installation).
  1. Refer to: Kühlsystem entleeren, mit Kühlmittel auffüllen und entlüften (303-03A Kühlsystem - 2.0L Duratec-HE (MI4), General Procedures).
  1. Refer to: Luftfilter (303-12A Ansaugsystem - 2.0L Duratec-HE (MI4)/2.3L Duratec-HE (MI4), Removal and Installation).

  1. Torque: 48 Nm

  1. Torque:
    1 48 Nm
    2 10 Nm

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Jointing compound must not be used forward of the catalytic converter.
    Torque: 55 Nm
  1. Remove the following items:
    1. Refer to: Ansaugkrümmer (303-01B Motor - 2.3L Duratec-HE (MI4), Removal and Installation).
    1. Refer to: Steuerkette (303-01B Motor - 2.3L Duratec-HE (MI4), Removal and Installation).

  1. Special Tool(s): 310-137

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Note the position of each component before removal.

  1. Remove and discard the cylinder head bolts.

Installation

  1. To install reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Install new cylinder head bolts.
    Torque:
    Stage 1:
    5 Nm
    Stage 2:
    15 Nm
    Stage 3:
    45 Nm
    Stage 4:
    90°
    Stage 5:
    90°

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure that the camshafts and camshaft bearing caps are installed in their original locations.
    Apply hypoid gear oil to the camshaft bearing caps.
    Material: Hypoid Gear Oil
  1. Install the camshafts approximately at valve overlap position cylinder No. 4.
    Torque:
    Stage 1:
    7 Nm
    Stage 2:
    16 Nm
