  1. Torque: 48 Nm

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Support the engine/transmission on wood blocks and secure with suitable straps.
    General Equipment: Mounting table set

  1. Remove the Special Tool(s): 303-122
    General Equipment: Hydraulic jib crane

  1. Torque: 36 Nm
  1. Refer to: Starter Motor (303-06B Starting System - 2.0L Duratec-HE (MI4)/2.3L Duratec-HE (MI4), Removal and Installation).
  1. Lower the vehicle to take the load off the engine mountings.

  1.  
    1. Torque: 133 Nm
    1. NOTE:
      NOTE:Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

  1. Torque: 15 Nm

  1.  
    1. Torque: 80 Nm
    1. NOTE:
      NOTE:Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.
  1. Remove the assembly stand.

  1. Torque: 90 Nm

  1. Torque:
    80 Nm
    25 Nm

Vehicles with PCM security shield

  1. Tighten the shear bolt until the head is sheared off.

  1. Torque: 3 Nm
Vehicles without PCM security shield

All vehicles

  1. Torque: 25 Nm

  1.  
    1. CAUTION:
      CAUTION:Jointing compound must not be used forward of the catalytic converter.
      Torque: 55 Nm
    1. Torque: 48 Nm

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure that no components catch.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:This step requires the aid of another technician.
    General Equipment: Transmission jack

  1.  
    1. Insert the washer, with inside diameter 22 mm, outside diameter 44 mm and height 5 mm, into the front subframe above the alignment hole.
    1. Insert the alignment pin through the front subframe alignment holes and the washer.
      Special Tool(s): 205-316A
    1. Slide the locking plates on top of the washer and into the groove of the special tool and tighten the alignment pin sleeve.

  1.  
    1. NOTE:
      NOTE:Make sure that new components are installed.
      Torque:
      Stage 1:
      150 Nm
      Stage 2:
      90°
    1. Torque: 120 Nm
    1. Torque: 30 Nm
  1. Remove the Special Tool(s): 205-316A

  1. On both sides
    Torque:
    Stage 1:
    140 Nm
    Stage 2:
    45°
  1. Install the following items:
    1. Refer to: Front Halfshaft LH (205-04 Front Drive Halfshafts, Removal and Installation).
    1. Refer to: Front Halfshaft RH (205-04 Front Drive Halfshafts, Removal and Installation).

  1. Torque: 85 Nm

  1. Torque: 48 Nm

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure that the exhaust flexible pipe is not twisted.
    Torque: 48 Nm

  1. Torque: 25 Nm

  1. General Equipment: Hose clamp remover/installer

  1. Torque: 12 Nm

  1. Refer to: Selector Lever Cable Adjustment (307-05 Automatic Transmission/Transaxle External Controls - Vehicles With: 6-Speed Automatic Transmission (AWF21), General Procedures).

  1. Torque: 15 Nm

  1. Torque: 15 Nm

  1. Torque: 12 Nm
  1. Install the following items:
    1. Refer to: Battery (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Removal and Installation).
    1. Refer to: Accessory Drive Belt (303-05B Accessory Drive - 2.0L Duratec-HE (MI4)/2.3L Duratec-HE (MI4), Removal and Installation).
    1. Refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04 Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).
    1. Right-hand headlamp
      Refer to: Headlamp Assembly (417-01A Exterior Lighting, Removal and Installation).
  1. Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding (303-03C Engine Cooling - 2.5L Duratec (VI5), General Procedures).

  1. Refer to: Front Toe Adjustment (204-00 Suspension System - General Information, General Procedures).
  1. Refer to: Door Window Motor Initialization (501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms, General Procedures).
