Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Remove the following items:
    1. Refer to: Timing Belt (303-01D Engine - 2.5L Duratec (VI5), Removal and Installation).
    1. Refer to: Ignition Coil-On-Plug (303-07C Engine Ignition - 2.5L Duratec (VI5), Removal and Installation).

  1. Install the Special Tool(s): 303-1178
    Torque: 10 Nm

  1. Remove the Special Tool(s): 303-1178

  1. General Equipment: Punch

  1. Loosen the bolts by two turns at a time.

Installation

  1. Refer to: Valve Clearance Adjustment (303-01D Engine - 2.5L Duratec (VI5), General Procedures).

  1.  
    • X = 15 mm.
  1. Apply engine oil to all camshaft bearings.
    Material: Engine Oil - 5W-30

  1. Install the camshafts in the positions shown.

  1. Material: Sealant - Loctite 510

  1. Tighten the bolts by two turns at a time.
    Torque: 17 Nm

  1. Special Tool(s): 303-318

  1. Install the Special Tool(s): 303-1178
    Torque: 10 Nm

  1. Using the special tool, align the crankshaft.
    Install the Special Tool(s): 303-1182

  1.  
    1. Torque: 20 Nm
    1. NOTE:
      NOTE:Make sure that a new component is installed.
    1. Depending on the engine temperature, tension the timing belt.
      Torque: 20 Nm

  1. Torque: 120 Nm

  1. Remove the Special Tool(s): 303-1178

  1. Remove the Special Tool(s): 303-1182
  1. Rotate the crankshaft two revolutions clockwise.

  1. Using the special tool, align the crankshaft.
    Install the Special Tool(s): 303-1182

  1. Check the position of the timing marks and correct if neccessary.

  1. Torque: 35 Nm

  1. Torque: 17 Nm

  1. Remove the Special Tool(s): 303-1182

  1. Torque: 40 Nm

  1. Torque: 50 Nm

  1. Torque: 28 Nm
  1. Refer to: Ignition Coil-On-Plug (303-07C Engine Ignition - 2.5L Duratec (VI5), Removal and Installation).

  1.  
    1. Special Tool(s): 303-1179
      Torque: 180 Nm
    1. Torque:
      Stage 1:
      25 Nm
      Stage 2:
      60°

  1. Torque: 8 Nm

  1.  
    1. Torque: 80 Nm
    1. NOTE:
      NOTE:Only tighten the bolt finger tight at this stage.

  1. Remove the following items:
    1. General Equipment: Trolley jack

  1. Torque: 80 Nm

  1. Torque: 110 Nm

  1. General Equipment: Hose clamp remover/installer

  1. Torque: 35 Nm

  1. Torque: 15 Nm

  1. Torque: 12 Nm
  1. Refer to: Accessory Drive Belt (303-05C Accessory Drive - 2.5L Duratec (VI5), Removal and Installation).
