CALIBRATIONS: 3-06B-R02, 3-06H-R00, 4-06H-R10
Hard start cold and poor driveaway can be improved by installing a new choke index baffle plate.
1.
Remove the choke cap.
2.
Remove and discard the original "yellow" choke index baffle plate.
3.
Install a new "black" choke index baffle plate E3PZ- 9A539-B (Carter Number 186-8500). This change resets the choke to 4NR instead of
the original 2NR.
4.
Reinstall the original choke cap.
5.
Remove and discard the choke pulldown diaphragm (motor).
6.
Install a new choke pulldown diaphragm (motor), Carter-Weber part number 202-W3S.
7.
Reset the choke plate pulldown opening to .240 inches using the procedure in the Shop Manual, Engine/Emissions Diagnostics, Volume H or
HC, Section 4.
Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent
to the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and
cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
