Cut the center stud off the weatherstrip channel completely (Figure 6).

Cut approximately 1/4" off the two end studs.
6.
Reinstall the weatherstrip channel to the "C" pillar rail casting using the remaining two studs to retain.
7.
Roll the 1/4 window into the full up position and check to be sure the seal between the 1/4 window
and the door glass has been maintained. Adjust the channel if necessary.
8.
Tighten the two nuts to (30-35 in.lbs.).
9.
Raise top approximately half way and prop the header up.
10.
Pull top fabric away from side rails above 1/4 windows to locate weather strip retainer screw tip which should be covered with a rubber cap
(Figure 7).
11.
Remove rubber cap and cut or file screw tip flush with pad on top of the rail. (Use care not to scatter chips into vehicle).
12.
Remove prop from header and lower top into place.
13.
Relatch the front hooks to windshield header.
14.
Pull back the ends of the well fabric by prying the two pins out of the frame at the base of the "C" pillar, and pulling the pinch cord off the flange
and sliding the bolt cover off the top retainer along the side.
15.
Pull back the black plastic shield and the foam pads to expose the metal on the top of the wheel well inner panel (Figure 8).
16.
Inspect area for roughness or sharp edges as shown in Figure 9).
17.
Use a small hammer to flatten any sheet metal edges that could catch on fabric and grind any rough welds off.
18.
Clean area of chips and grinding materials and spray bare metal with primer.
19.
Reinstall foam pads and plastic shield.
20.
Reinstall retainers to hold well fabric in place.
