Ventilator Door - Cold Air Leaks To The Interior

Outside air forces open the left ventilator door and blows cold air on driver's leg. The control cable does not meet minimum effort requirements. Use
procedure below to service condition.
1.
Remove the two retaining screws securing the ventilator control cable lever assembly to the lower edge of the instrument panel.
2.
Pull the ventilator control knob all the way out (rearward).
3.
Grip the cable with one hand on either side of a point half way between the cable instrument panel molded mounting bracket and the cable
ventilator molded snap-in flag. Slightly bend the cable making certain that the bend is no closer than three inches to the ventilator end of the cable.
4.
Attach a spring gauge, with a 10 lb. minimum scale, to the control cable knob and measure the effort (force) to move the cable wire when opening
the ventilator door. Increase or decrease the cable bend, as necessary, to obtain a cable operating effort (force) of two to six pounds (lbs).
5.
Install the two retaining screws securing the control cable assembly to the instrument panel.
6.
Check the control cable for proper operation.
