Using a plastic squeegee, press the lower edge of the weatherstrip into the retainer.

Align the weatherstrip butt joint with the mark made in Step 6 while the hatch was on the vehicle.
While holding the alignment, install the weatherstrip attaching screw(s).
Repeat this step at the opposite end.
