Curb idle speed and mixture adjustments are not adjustable. Curb idle speed is controlled by the EEC-IV and the idle speed control unit.
Perform the following procedure to set an initial adjustment.
1.
Set parking brake and block wheels. On models with automatic parking brake, place transmission in Reverse position.
2.
Start and allow engine to reach normal operating temperature.
3.
Switch all accessories OFF.
4.
Place transmission into Drive or Reverse on models equipped with automatic parking brake release, then allow engine to idle for approximately 1
minute. Idle speed obtained should be as specified.
5.
If curb idle speed obtained is more than specified speed and throttle lever is not contacting ISC unit, but held open by the throttle stop adjusting
screw, proceed as follows:
a. Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
b. Remove air cleaner assembly.
c. Locate self-test electrical connector and self-test input (STI) electrical connector in engine compartment.
d. Connect a suitable jumper wire between STI electrical connector and signal return pin on self-test connector, Fig. 1.
e. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Do not start engine.
f. The ISC plunger would retract.
g. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and remove jumper wire.
6.
Perform throttle stop adjustment as follows:
a. Using suitable pliers, grasp throttle stop adjusting screw threads and turn screw until it is removed from assembly.
b. Install a new screw and with the throttle plates closed, turn screw inward until there is a .005 inch gap between screw tip and throttle lever
surface.
c. Turn screw inward an additional 1.5 turns.
