To improve the brake "feel" on certain models of T-Bird/Cougar and Mustang/Capri, new shoe, and lining assemblies were installed in production.
Starting in late August, the affected vehicles are being produced with organic inner brake shoe linings and semi-metallic outer brake shoe linings.
The mixed brake shoe and lining assemblies can be identified by a red color code on the organic lining and a white color code on the semi-metallic
lining. This color code is located on the inner radius of the lining materials.
This TSB article is being re-published to provide the part number for the replacement kit.
Whenever service replacement linings are installed on 1983 and 1984 Mustang/Capri or T-Bird/Cougar, the chart should be used to determine the type of
shoe and lining assemblies.
