To improve transmission driveability and shift feel for customers with sea level calibrated vehicles who may have relocated and/or continually operate
the subject vehicle at high altitudes (above 4,000 feet altitude), the following transmission vacuum diaphragm modification is recommended:
Service Modification for High Altitude Operation:

Remove the transmission vacuum diaphragm attaching bolt, clip, and vacuum hose.

Remove and discard the production diaphragm and

TV control rod. Replace it with an altitude compensating diaphragm and corresponding TV control rod referenced in the chart shown in Figure 10.

Install the altitude diaphragm attaching clip referenced in the chart shown in Figure 10. Torque to specification. The vacuum hose may have to be
changed to a longer length.
