Seat Belt: Description and Operation

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
For the RH front and both rear seating positions of the coupe and for both rear seating positions of the convertible, the lap/shoulder safety belt
retractors are equipped with a dual locking mode feature for the shoulder belt portion of the combination lap/shoulder safety belt.
The two locking modes of the retractors are vehicle-sensitive (emergency) locking mode and automatic locking mode.

Vehicle sensitive locking mode allows the webbing to move in or out freely, except during vehicle hard braking, hard cornering or impacts of
approximately 8 km/h (5 mph) or more. The retractor cannot be made to lock by pulling on the belt.

Automatic locking mode does not allow freedom of movement. The retractor will remain locked.

This mode provides a tight belt fit and must be used when installing a child's safety seat or infant carrier.
To switch the retractor from the emergency locking mode to the automatic locking mode, perform the following: (For RH front and both rear seating
positions on the coupe and both rear seating positions on the convertible)

Grasp the shoulder portion of the belt and pull downward until all of the belt is extracted and a click is heard. At this time, the lap belt retractor is
in the automatic locking mode (child restraint mode).

Allow the belt to retract. A clicking sound will be heard as the belt retracts. This indicates the retractor is in the automatic locking mode. Pull up
on the belt to remove any slack in the belt.
