Oil Pan: Service and Repair
1.
Disconnect battery cables.
2.
Remove fan shroud retaining bolts and position fan shroud over fan.
3.
Remove dipstick and tube assembly.
4.
On all models, raise and support vehicle, then drain crankcase. Some oil pans have dual oil sumps. Make sure to remove both drain plugs to
thoroughly drain oil.
5.
Remove the two bolts retaining steering gear to main crossmember and allow steering gear to rest on frame away from oil pan.
6.
Remove engine mount retaining bolts, then raise engine and place a 2 x 4 inch wooden block between each engine mount and vehicle frame.
7.
Remove rear K-braces.
8.
Remove oil pan retaining bolts and lower oil pan onto frame.
9.
Remove oil pump retaining bolts and the inlet tube retaining nut from No. 3 main bearing cap stud. Lower the oil pump assembly into the oil pan.
10.
Remove oil pan. If necessary, rotate engine so that crankshaft throws clear oil pan rail.
11.
Reverse procedure to install.
