Air Door Actuator / Motor: Service and Repair
Vacuum Control Motors
MODELS W/MANUAL A/C SYSTEM
1.
Remove evaporator case as described under ``Evaporator Case, Replace.''
2.
Remove floor duct attaching screws and the duct.
3.
Remove two vacuum motor-to-case attaching nuts.
4.
Remove door crank arm spring nut and the arm.
5.
Disengage three lock tabs on door from shaft and remove door through opening in case.
6.
Reverse procedure to install.
PANEL DEFROST DOOR
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Disconnect all electrical connectors from main wiring harness in engine compartment.
3.
Remove floor console, then the steering column lower shroud extension.
4.
Remove steering column opening trim panel attaching screws and the panel.
5.
Squeeze sides of glove compartment together to disengage tabs and pivot glove compartment down.
6.
Remove console, then snap out defroster grille.
7.
Remove speaker grille attaching screws and the grilles.
8.
Remove steering column opening reinforcement attaching screws and the reinforcement.
9.
Remove lower attaching screw from each end of instrument panel.
10.
Remove brake pedal support nut, then the five upper instrument panel attaching screws.
11.
Pull instrument panel back and disconnect all electrical connectors and control cables.
12.
Remove spring nut securing motor arm to door shaft.
13.
Remove vacuum motor attaching nuts and the motor.
14.
reverse procedure to install.
OUTSIDE RECIRCULATION DOOR
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Remove glove compartment and disconnect vacuum hose from the vacuum motor.
3.
Remove the motor arm retainer from the outside recirculation door shaft.
4.
Remove two nuts retaining vacuum motor to mounting bracket, then the motor.
5.
Reverse procedure to install.
