Rocker Panel Mouldings - Loose

MOULDINGS - ROCKER PANEL - LOOSE

This TSB article is being republished in its entirety to include vehicles through the 1998 model year.
ISSUE
The rocker panel mouldings on some vehicles may be loose. This may be caused by broken retaining clips and/or improper installation.
ACTION
Remove the rocker panel mouldings and replace the retaining clips. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the screw at the rear tab of the rocker panel moulding.
2.
Remove the eight (8) barbed push pins along the bottom edge of the rocker panel moulding and discard.
3.
Remove the fifteen (15) snap clips along the top edge of the rocker panel moulding and discard.
NOTE
IF A NEW MOULDING IS BEING INSTALLED, THE NEW PUSH PINS AND CLIPS WILL BE INCLUDED WITH THE MOULDING. IF
THE OLD MOULDING IS BEING REUSED, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO OBTAIN FIFTEEN (15) SNAP CLIPS (F4ZZ-6310182-A) AND
EIGHT (8) NEW BARBED PUSH PINS (N807721-S).
4.
Install the snap clips into the moulding and be sure they move freely in the moulding slots.
5.
Inspect and remove any dirt or other foreign material from the vehicle's rocker panel and the rocker panel moulding.
6.
Position the rocker panel moulding on the vehicle and align all fifteen (15) clips with the holes provided in the vehicle.
7.
Push in the moulding until the moulding fits tight along the body.
