Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair
Right Side
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301).
2. Remove engine compartment brace from front fender aprons (16055) and dash panel (01610).
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Remove dual converter Y pipe (5F250).
5. Remove starter motor (11001).
6. Loosen the LH motor mount to sub-frame retaining nut.
7. Remove the RH motor mount to sub-frame retaining nut.
8. Raise engine approximately 38 mm (1.5 inch) using a safety stand and block of wood positioned under crankshaft pulley (6312).
9. Remove eight nuts retaining exhaust manifold (9430) to cylinder head (6049) and remove RH exhaust manifold and exhaust manifold gasket
(9448).
INSTALLATION
1. Clean mating surfaces of exhaust manifold and cylinder head.
2. Position exhaust manifold gasket and RH exhaust manifold to cylinder head and studs.
3. Install eight retaining nuts. Tighten in sequence to 18-22 Nm (14-16 ft. lbs.).
4. Remove safety stand and install RH front engine support insulator to front sub-frame crossmember nut. Tighten both front engine support insulator
to front sub-frame crossmember nuts to 128-172 Nm (95-126 ft. lbs.).
5. Install starter motor.
6. Install dual converter Y pipe.
7. Lower vehicle.
