Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber: Service and Repair
Replacement
Front
REMOVAL
NOTE: The bolts used in this installation are made to metric specification and require use of metric tools.
1. Place the ignition switch in the OFF (not LOCK) position to permit free movement of the front wheels.
2. Raise vehicle by the lower front suspension lower arm until the wheels are just off the ground. From the engine compartment, remove and discard
the two 10 mm upper mount retaining nuts and one 10 mm bolt. Do not drive vehicle with these nuts removed. Do not remove the pop-rivet
holding the front suspension camber adjusting plate in position.
3. Continue to raise front of vehicle by front suspension lower arm, and position safety stands under frame jacking pads, rearward of the wheels.
4. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
5. Remove disc brake caliper and rotate out of position. See Brakes and Traction Control. Remove front brake anti-lock sensor and bracket.
6. Remove the two lower nuts that retain the front shock absorber to the front wheel spindle, leaving the bolts in place. Carefully remove both
