Pinion Bearing: Service and Repair
Removal
REMOVAL
1. To remove the differential pinion bearing, use Pinion Bearing Cone Remover T71P-4621-B and Pinion Bearing Cone Replacer T53T-4621-C.
2. Remove the drive pinion bearing adjustment shim from the rear axle differential pinion.
INSTALLATION
1. To install the differential pinion bearing, use Pinion Bearing Cone Remover and Pinion Bearing Cone Replacer.
NOTE: Measure the drive pinion bearing adjustment shim, which is found under the differential pinion bearing with a micrometer and record the
thickness. This is used as a reference to compare the shim gauge reading prior to installing the differential pinion bearing.
