Attachment III - Technical Information
OVERVIEW
This procedure provides the instructions for replacing both rear suspension knuckles on the affected vehicles.
New fasteners, which are provided in the repair kit, must be used during installation to ensure a complete repair.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
NOTE:
Replace both the left and right rear suspension knuckles on all vehicles. Remember to use all of the new fasteners included in the service kit. The
service procedure for both sides is identical.
REMOVAL
1.
Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
2.
Remove the wheel and tire.
3.
Disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake caliper lever. See Figure 1.
NOTE:
The parking brake cable conduit must be separated from the brake caliper to access the caliper anchor bolts.
4.
Remove the retaining clip from the parking brake cable conduit, then separate the conduit from the caliper. See Figure 1.
5.
Route the parking brake cable conduit through the guide loop on the back of the rear suspension knuckle.
