Press the rear axle shaft from the hub using Hub Remover (D93P-1175-B) or equivalent. See Figure 5.
15.
Remove and discard the lower ball joint bolt, nut and rear suspension knuckle. See Figure 5.
INSTALLATION
1.
Position the new rear suspension knuckle onto the lower control arm and install a new bolt and nut. Tighten the bolt to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).
2.
Slide the axle shaft into the back of the hub making sure the splines on the axle shaft align with the splines in the hub.
3.
Install a new hub retainer onto the axle shaft. Do not tighten at this time.
4.
Connect the toe link to the rear suspension knuckle and loosely install a new castle nut.
5.
Position the top of the new rear suspension knuckle into the upper control arm. Install the new cam bolt and nut.
6.
Align the mark on the new cam bolt and the upper control arm. Tighten the nut to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
7.
Tighten the new toe link castle nut to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft). Install a new cotter pin.
8.
Install the brake rotor.
9.
Install the brake caliper/anchor plate using new bolts. Tighten the bolts to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft).
10.
Route the parking brake cable conduit through the guide loop on the knuckle.
11.
Connect the parking brake cable conduit to the brake caliper.
12.
Install the retaining clip on the parking brake cable conduit.
13.
Connect the parking brake cable to the brake caliper lever.
CAUTION
The hub retainer must be tightened with the brakes applied and the wheels off of the ground to make sure of correct bearing seating. Failure to do so
can cause the retainer to loosen causing extensive vehicle damage and potential loss of vehicle control.
14.
Partially lower the vehicle to access the parking brake handle and fully apply the parking brake. Tighten the hub retainer nut to 325 Nm (240 lb-ft).
15.
Install the wheel and tire. Tighten the nuts to 129 Nm (95 lb-ft).
16.
Lower the vehicle.
17.
Check the wheel alignment and adjust as necessary.
