Piston: Service and Repair

DISASSEMBLY 

1. Using Piston Pin Tool 303-D034 (D81L-6135-A) or equivalent, press piston pin through piston and connecting rod.
2. Clean and inspect piston and connecting rods. Check piston and piston pin fit.

ASSEMBLY 

1. Apply a light coat of Super Premium SAE 5W30 Motor Oil XO-5W30-QSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G to all

parts.

2. Verify that all parts to be assembled are for same cylinder. Assemble piston to connecting rod.

3. Start piston pin in piston and connecting rod. This may require a very light tap with a mallet. Using Piston Pin Tool 303-D034 (D81L-6135-A) or

equivalent press piston pin through piston until piston pin is centered in piston. After assembly, make sure connecting rod swings smoothly.
