Mustang GT V8-4.6L SOHC VIN X (1998)
NOTE: It may be necessary to adjust the engine elevation several times to obtain clearance for oil pan installation.
9. Install oil pan retaining bolts. Tighten bolts in sequence shown to 20 Nm (14 ft. lbs.) then tighten bolts in sequence an additional 60 degrees.
10. Install oil pan drain plug. Tighten to 20-26 Nm (15-19 ft. lbs.).
11. Remove two wood blocks from under front engine support insulator.
12. Lower engine.
13. Install two motor mount to front sub-frame crossover nuts. Tighten nuts to 128-172 Nm (95-126 ft. lbs.).
14. Install the front sub-frame crossmember reinforcement and the front sub-frame crossmember reinforcement retaining bolts. Tighten retaining bolts
to 40-55 Nm (30-40 ft. lbs.).
NOTE: The convertible option uses a larger front sub-frame crossmember reinforcement that is retained with 14 bolts.
15. Lower vehicle.
16. Position engine compartment brace on front fender aprons and dash panel. Install six retaining bolts. Tighten retaining bolts to 20-30 Nm (15-22
ft. lbs.).
17. Fill engine with clean engine oil Motorcraft XO-5W30-QSP meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G.
18. Connect battery ground cable.
19. Start engine and check for exhaust leaks.
