Brake Light Switch: Description and Operation
The Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch:

Provides power to the stoplamps

Provides a signal to various other components including:

Anti-lock brake control module

Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

Shift lock actuator
^
Speed control servo

Is provided power through Circuit 10 (LG/R).

Is protected by fuse junction panel Fuse 9 (15A).

When closed (brake pedal applied) provides power to the stoplamps and rear hi-mount lamp through Circuit 810 (R/LG).

is provided ground (at the stoplamps) through Circuit 57 (BK).
