Wheel Bearing: Description and Operation
Rear
The rear wheel assembly has the following characteristics:

The rear wheel bearing and the inner wheel bearing oil seal are pressed into the axle housing tube assembly.

The semi-floating axle shafts are held in the rear axle housing by u-washers positioned in a slot on the axle shaft splined end.

The wheel and tire assembly is bolted to the axle shaft flange by the lug bolt and lug nuts.
