Spare Key Programming-Security Access Procedure

NOTE: The Security Access Procedure is utilized to obtain passive anti-theft system (PATS) security access. PATS security access must be granted to
erase ignition keys, enable/disable the spare key programming switch (PID SPARE_KY), or perform parameter resets for the PATS or PCM. The
Security Access Procedure invokes an inherent 10 minute time delay prior to granting security access during which the New Generation STAR
Tester/Service Bay Diagnostic System (NGS/SBDS) must remain connected to the vehicle. Once security access has been granted, a security access
command menu is displayed which offers various ignition key program, ignition key erase, and configuration command options (review the PATS
Configuration Command Index). Multiple commands may be performed as necessary before exiting this menu.

NOTE:

Once security access has been granted, multiple security access commands can be executed (if necessary) prior to exiting the security access
command menu. Execution of all necessary security access commands prior to exiting the command menu avoids the performance of an additional
Security Access Procedure and the associated 10 minute time delay.

Security access for the PATS and security access for the PCM must be obtained separately as needed (each requires a 10 minute wait).
1. From NGS/SBDS: From the Function Test menu: Enter SECURITY ACCESS PROCEDURE. This procedure will take 10 minutes to

perform, during which the ignition switch must be in RUN and the NGS/SBDS must be connected to the vehicle.

2. After the 10 minute Security Access Procedure has been completed, a new menu will be displayed with configuration and clearing options.

Select as many of these functions as required before backing out of this menu. Once backed out of this menu, the Security Access Procedure
must be performed again before any further configuration and clearing can take place.
