Tie Rod End: Testing and Inspection
This check may be done with the power rack and pinion steering gear on or off the vehicle:
1. Disconnect tie rod end from the front wheel spindle (RH) using Tie Rod End Remover 211-001 or equivalent.
2. Hook Spring Scale 211-034 over tie rod end and measure force required to move front wheel spindle tie rod.
3. If force required to move front wheel spindle tie rod is not between 8.9-45 N (2-10 lbs.), replace front wheel spindle tie rod.
