Wheel Bearing: Adjustments

1.

Raise and support vehicle, then remove rear wheel.

2.

On models equipped with disc brakes, remove rear disc brake caliper assembly.

3.

Install wheel lug nuts, then position Dial Indicator tool No. TOOL-4201-C or equivalent, against center of wheel hub.

4.

Push and pull brake drum or rotor by hand, measuring wheel bearing endplay.

5.

If bearing endplay exceeds 0.002 inch, check and adjust spindle retaining nut torque. Replace hub/wheel bearing if necessary.
