1.
Remove timing belt as previously described.
2.
Remove rocker cover, front, then rear housings.
3.
Prevent camshaft sprocket from rotating using a screwdriver, remove retaining bolt, then sprocket.
4.
Remove rocker arm shaft assembly retaining bolts and the rocker shaft, then camshaft bearing caps.
5.
Lift camshaft upward, then remove from cylinder head.
6.
Clean camshaft journals, then position camshaft into cylinder head.
7.
Position Plasti-gauge on camshaft journals and install bearing caps, then rocker shaft assembly. Torque rocker shaft retaining bolts in two steps to
13-20 ft. lbs., remove shaft, bearing caps, then measure bearing clearance. Bearing clearance should be .0014-.0033 inch for front and rear
journals, or .0026-.0045 inch for the three center journals. Maximum clearance should not exceed .0059 inch. If bearing clearance is not as
specified, replace cylinder head and/or camshaft.
8.
Apply silicone sealant to areas shown, Fig. 8, then reinstall bearing caps, rocker shaft, then torque shaft retaining bolts in two steps to 13-20 ft.
lbs. Install front and rear housings.
9.
Install camshaft sprocket, aligning No. 1 mark on sprocket with dowel on camshaft, Fig. 9.
10.
Install sprocket retaining bolt, prevent sprocket from rotating, then tighten retaining bolt to specifications.
11.
Install timing belt, then rocker cover to complete installation.
