Towing a manual transaxle (MTX)-equipped vehicle with the drive wheels on the ground is acceptable only if the vehicle is towed in a forward direction.
The parking brake must be released and the gear shift lever must be in Neutral.

For Aspire, Festiva, Escort and Tracer, the ignition key must be in the ACO position, the battery must be disconnected to eliminate battery drain, and
the steering wheel must be unlocked

For Capri, the ignition key must be in the OFF position and the steering wheel unlocked
