Oil Pan: Service and Repair
1.
Drain engine oil, then disconnect both oxygen sensor connectors and lower exhaust system to gain access to oil pan bolts.
2.
Remove oil pan bolts, then the pan.
3.
Remove any remaining sealant from mating surfaces.
CAUTION: Failure to fully remove old sealant may cause engine block to crack.
4.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Apply a continuous bead of sealant inside bolt holes and overlap ends.
b. Install pan within five minutes of applying sealant.
c. Torque short pan retaining bolts to 14-18 ft lb and long pan retaining bolts to 71-88 in lb.
