Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair
With Automatic Transmission

REMOVAL

1. Remove transaxle.
2. Use holding tool T74P-6375-A, or equivalent, hold flex plate in position.

3. Remove flex plate attaching bolts using sequence shown. Mark bolts for installation reference.
4. Remove backing plate, flex plate and adapter.
5. Using seal remover tool No. T92C-6700-CH, or equivalent, remove rear main seal.

INSTALLATION

1. Apply clean engine oil to outer lips of rear main seal.
2. Position seal on Crankshaft Seal Replacer tool T92C-6701-BH, or equivalent.
3. Install seal, then flex plate as follows:

a. Align adapter, flex plate and backing plate, then loosely install flex plate bolts.

b. Install holding tool T74P-6375-A, or equivalent, tighten flex plate bolts to in sequence to 45-50 ft lb.
