Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Open the radiator drain cock and drain the engine coolant to a level below the water outlet connection. Close the radiator drain cock. This

procedure will require less refill time than if entire cooling system is drained.

Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor

3. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) electrical connector.
4. Use a deep well socket to remove the ECT sensor from the sensor housing.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the ECT sensor into the housing and tighten to 16-24 Nm (12-18 lb ft).
2. Connect the ECT electrical connector.
3. Connect the battery ground cable.
4. Refill cooling system and check for leaks.
