Heated Oxygen (HO2S) Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

NOTE:  When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control
module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.

2. Raise and support vehicle.

3. Disconnect Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connectors.

4. Remove sensor(s) with suitable socket or wrench from exhaust inlet pipe.

INSTALLATION

1. Apply thin coating of anti-seize compound to threads.

NOTE: Do not contaminate sensing tip with compound.

2. Install sensor(s) and torque to 30-49 Nm (22-36 ft lb).

3. Lower vehicle.

4. Connect battery ground cable.
