Volume Air Flow Meter: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control
module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
Air Induction System Components
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the Measuring Core - Volume Air Flow (MC-VAF) meter.
3. Loosen the engine air cleaner tube clamp on the MC-VAF meter side of the air cleaner to intake manifold tube.
4. Remove air cleaner to intake manifold tube from the MC-VAF meter.
5. Remove the two bolts and remove MC-VAF meter from the engine air cleaner upper cover.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the MC-VAF meter to engine air cleaner upper cover. Torque attaching bolts to 8-10 Nm (71-88 in lb).
2. Install air cleaner to intake manifold tube.
3. Tighten engine air cleaner tube clamp on MC-VAF meter side of the air cleaner to intake manifold tube.
4. Connect the MC-VAF meter electrical connector.
5. Connect negative battery cable.
