Remove the passenger side airbag module by pushing on passenger side airbag module from inside the instrument panel. DO NOT handle the
passenger side airbag module by edges of the deployment doors.
NOTE:
Do not pull the wiring when handling the passenger side airbag module.
11.
Remove the (2) 10 mm nuts which secure the existing airbag bracket. See View A of Figure 1.
12.
Install reinforcement bracket from kit behind existing bracket. DO NOT remove existing bracket.
13.
Tighten 10 mm nuts to a minimum torque of 7 N-m (5.2 ft-lb).
Installation Procedure - Airbag Module
1.
Insert the passenger side airbag module into the instrument panel, making sure the guide pins insert into the guide holes. The tab on the module
must insert into the clip in the instrument panel.
NOTE:
Make certain the wiring harness is not pinched between the passenger side airbag module and the instrument panel pad.
2.
Secure the passenger side airbag module with the four bolts removed during the removal procedure. Tighten the passenger side airbag module
bolts to 2.7-3.7 N-m (23-33 lb-in).
3.
Connect the passenger side airbag module electrical connectors.
4.
Insert the pin on the connector into the hole on the back of the passenger side airbag module.
NOTE:
Connect all connectors securely.
5.
Install the 12" section of the heat duct.
6.
Install the glove compartment cover and glove compartment.
7.
Connect the two connectors to the diagnostic monitor.
8.
Connect the battery ground cable.
9.
Verify that the airbag warning indicator is operative, and that no fault codes are displayed.

Safety Recall 93S73 - Certain 1994 Model Year Ford Probes - Modification of original program - Installation of reinforcement mounting bracket to the
Passenger Side Air Bag Module.
Affected Vehicles
A small number of early-built 1994 Model Year Ford Probes that were not previously corrected per Safety Recall Bulletin dated November, 1993. The
forty-one remaining units are identified in OASIS.
Reasons for Recall
The air bag module on the passenger side of these vehicles may not be securely retained in the instrument panel. Under certain high temperature
conditions, if the air bag module is deployed as the result of a collision, it may separate form its mounting bracket.
If this situation occurs, possible injury to the vehicle occupant(s) could result. The original bulletin did not include an owner letter mailing because no
units were recorded as sold. Our records now indicate that forty-one affected units have been sold. Therefore, Recall letters will now be mailed to these
owners.
To correct this condition a reinforcement mounting bracket will be installed behind the passenger side air bag module. Please follow the revised
Technical Instructions for the remaining forty-one units.
