1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system.
2.
Remove air cleaner outlet flex hose to throttle body.
3.
Mark vacuum lines for reference, then remove vacuum lines to throttle body.
4.
Remove ignition wires from spark plugs, then harnesses from rocker cover retaining studs.
5.
Remove throttle body, then relieve pressure at fuel supply manifold Schrader valve. Cover valve with shop towel to prevent accidental fuel
spray into eyes.
6.
Remove fuel line safety clips, then disconnect fuel lines from fuel supply manifold. Ensure to cover fuel lines ends with a clean shop towel to
prevent dirt from entering opening.
7.
Remove fuel injector wiring harness from engine, then fuel supply manifold and injectors. Injectors and fuel supply manifold may be removed with
intake manifold as an assembly.
8.
Remove ignition coil and bracket and position aside.
9.
Remove rocker arm covers, then disconnect upper radiator and heater hoses.
10.
Disconnect EGR tube attaching nut from EGR valve (if equipped).
11.
Disconnect PFE sensor hose from EGR tube nipple. Loosen lower tube attaching nut and rotate tube away from valve.
12.
Mark and remove distributor assembly, then disconnect engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
13.
Remove intake manifold retaining bolts. It may be necessary to pry intake manifold upward to break the silicone seal.
14.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Ensure surfaces are clean and free of old silicone sealer.
b. When using silicone rubber sealer, assembly must occur within 15 minutes after sealer application.
c. Torque manifold bolts in numerical sequence shown in Fig. 4. In two steps, first to 11 ft. lbs., then to 18 ft. lbs.
